We have over 180 staff at Marie Stopes Sierra Leone and our global organisation Marie Stopes International has over 12,000 members.

All of team are passionately driven by our mission: to ensure every woman can have children by choice, not chance. They bring skill, diversity, energy, and experience to across all our areas of work.

Mohamed Kabba - Country Director

Kabba began his career at BDO Audit firm where he rose to the rank of Audit Supervisor.

In 2010, he joined MSI Sierra Leone as Finance Officer and held various posts within the finance team, including as Finance and Administration Director, before taking on the role of Regional Finance Advisor for West and Central Africa in 2017.

In this post, he directly supported Sierra Leone, Ghana and Nigeria programmes and also served as interim Finance Director in MSI Ghana. Since October 2020 to early April 2023, Kabba was MSI Nigeria's Finance Director.

 

Felix Ikenna, Director of Quality Assurance & Management

Dr. Felix currently leads the Quality Assurance and Management team of MSSL, which is responsible for ensuring high quality services are provided through targeted trainings, continuous supportive supervision, and clinical governance contributing to the achievement of organizational mission, goals and objectives.

Felix Ikenna Onunkwor is a Medical doctor with a postgraduate training in international health from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Felix brings eleven (11) years of professional work experiences with a mix of clinical care, public health and management, 6 years’ experience in international development at a senior level and a clear understanding of the public, non-governmental and private sectors response to international health programmes. Believing that sustainability of international health programmes requires strong quality assurance and controls. Felix is known for enhancing overall performance through innovation, advanced employee training, and implementation of evidence based best practices. Felix has worked closely with Governments, International NGOs in developing and developed countries. He is an excellent RH service provider and a certified Master trainer in a variety of sexual and reproductive health services.  

His technical expertise in reproductive health and family planning, and his innovative approaches to contemporary organizational challenges has contributed significantly to the growth of MSSL over a short period of time. Felix is also skilled in strategic planning and business development. He pioneered the social Franchise network at Marie Stopes Nigeria leading to the expansion of the Social Franchising programme for family planning and post-Abortion care in Nigeria.

Prior to joining Marie Stopes International organization, Felix served as National Medical doctor with Medicine San Frontiers-France, under the Comprehensive emergency obstetric care programme in Nigeria.

Sahr A. Pessima, Operations Deputy Director (Marie Stopes Sierra Leone).

Sahr A. Pessima is the Deputy Director Programme Operations, supporting the Director to drive MSSL towards programme sustainability and to increase uptake of MSSL’s services and products.

The Deputy Director of Programme Operations provides guidance, technical support, and capacity building to the two Pillar 1 Leave No-one Behind channels (PSS and Outreach) and support the effective implementation of donor-funded projects and other program interventions.

He is responsible for strategy and business development, direction, and coordination of technical support to the country programme, programme development, programme quality, capacity building, policy review and development, and managing a large portfolio of grants.

Sahr works very closely with the Director of Finance and Administration in the developing annual business plans and leads programme/project M&E, ensuring the execution of baseline, periodic, and final evaluations.

Sahr brings to MSSL a thorough understanding and experience of Sierra Leone Health Sector. He has a background of demonstrated success in designing and implementing proposals, health planning and Management.

Sahr is a development and public health specialist with a demonstrable experience in project management, programme excellence and programme quality over the last 12 years and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Sociology from Fourah Bay College University of Sierra Leone, a Master of Science in Rural Development Studies and a Master of Public Health in Social and Behavioural Health Sciences from Njala University in Sierra Leone.

He is married with 3 children.

Kunle Dehinsilu - Commercial  Marketing Department Director

Kunle is responsible for the commercial channels of the organization viz: Centres & Social Marketing. He also oversees the Contact Centre and Service Marketing & Communication units which all form the Commercial & Marketing Department of MSSL.

His duty function goes with driving the commercial channels on the path of sustainability. The Social Marketing channel extends to Liberia where the MSSL FP and SRH range of products are distributed through Public and Private sector providers and distributors in the two countries.

Kunle is a registered Pharmacist and brings in more than 25 years of hands-on Sales Marketing commercial experience in demand generation for ethical range of pharmaceuticals in several West African countries. 

His main areas of expertise are new products launch, development & growth, revenue management for profitability, field force excellence training and building highly effective teams.

Kunle has worked in leadership positions across a range of ethical medicine marketing organizations like GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals before joining MSI. He established the Social Marketing Program at MSI Nigeria at inception.

He holds a B. Pharm. Hons degree from O.A.U. Ile-Ife, an MBA from the University of Abuja, in Nigeria and an MPH from the University of Southern Wales, UK.

Almina Coker, Finance Director

Almina Coker joined MSSL Country Programme as Finance Officer.

A strong leader and professional with several years of experience in international development driving finance, business and operational performance for the competitive advantage for organizations she has worked with-through vision and operational efficiency. She has managed portfolios of up to $40 million from both private and institutional donors with Marie Stopes Sierra Leone. She became a qualified accountant in September 2017.

Almina joined Marie Stopes Sierra Leone in 2013 as the Finance Officer, and was promoted to senior finance officer in March 2015 at the height of the Ebola scourge and contributed to the most challenging emergency response ever taken-on by Marie Stopes Sierra Leone driving a strategy and a high-performing team for the finance department. She became finance manager in October 2016 and was promoted to Finance Director in October 2021

Over the years, she has grown wealth of experience in creating business models for full financial recovery, systems & controls strengthening and accuracy in forecasting and business planning. Almina, is thrilled by the opportunity to work in a social business and does hope to contribute a lot to our mission.

Joseph Abdulai Koroma, HR & Administration Director

Joseph leads the HR & Administration team that is responsible for ensuring that the appropriate, sustainable, organizational structure is in place for MSSL to achieve its mission, goals and objectives.

The team contributes to furthering MSI’s mission: Children by Choice not Chance by bringing modern business approaches to MSSL’s support services in order to move the organization towards financial sustainability, high productivity and growth.

The Team also ensures high quality and efficient HR, administration and contracts management, HR operations, legal compliance and governance, recruitment, learning and development, performance management, compensation and benefits, policy compliance, employee relations, employee engagement, well-being and safety. The Team proactively identifies areas in which HR and administration can add value by employing modern business approaches.

Joseph has proven practical, programmatic, operational knowledge and experience in human resource management, Administration, Legal, Fleet, ICT and corporate social responsibility that has evolved over the last 10 years working in the INGO sector.
